Synopsis
How do you balance your ambitions in sport with the reality of school, work and financial challenges?
We meet Rosie, a 16-year old Padel player in the Team GB squad - and Charlotte, a 14-year old golfer showing great promise in junior tournaments and competitions. Both have ambitions in sport, travelling around the UK and Europe to train and compete - all the while studying for their GCSE exams in school this year. This is the balancing act.
From the Editor...
This was a fun one. I drove over four hours down to Ipswich Padel - I'd never met Rosie or her coach before. And given how far away the court was, there's been no time for a recce. I arrived thirty minutes prior to Rosie's lesson, so I quickly scouted the second court and set up my shot.
Charlotte was great. Very quickly she felt comfortable chatting to me about her process and ethos in golf - knowing to look to the camera and not mind that I'd often not respond to her, because of course I'm filming. I'd let out the ocassional "mhm", but she didn't let my lack of response throw her off. Very natural on camera. She'll do great in media appearances when her career demands it.
