From the Editor...
I had a great time filming with James. You can tell from how eloquently he speaks of sport in communities; his values are deeply routed in using sport as a force for good - shaping children to grow to become better adults through what sport teaches them. For this shoot, the Director and Camera Operator were indeed the same person. They'd travelled to Brentwood by rail, and weren't able to carry tripods for both cameras...only one. They used a nearby wheelie bin to place the second camera at the correct height for the MCU shot, and straddled their peli case to maintain the proper eye-line for interview. The interview itself ran over, about twice as long as expected, which you can gather from the way the daylight changes in the background. Thankfully this was the peak of summer, otherwise they'd have had to shoot this indoors - lack of outdoor spaces and idyllic weather being a key challenge for UK basketball clubs, as we discover in this episode.
