How an Icelandic knitting company recycles its wool remnants
ReCover is an innovative recycled woven- and knitwear collection by KIDKA produced in collaboration with IINOUIIO and Camira Fabrics in UK. By repurposing cut-offs and wool remnants from our own knitwear production, we created new yarns, which were then woven into blankets, and knitted into accessories . This sustainable approach reduces waste while producing unique, eco-friendly pieces.
From the Editor...
This was a fantastic project to work on. With ReCover, we're telling a story of craftsmanship, heritage, skill, style and of course sustainability. We were approached by iinouiio in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, who were looking for a UK-baseed film production house to document the journey working with Kidka in Iceland, and their innovative recycled woven and knitwear collection known as ReCover. Kidka provided the base material, and iinouiio broke apart and recycled the fibres, respinning the high quality Icelandic wool into something new. Dr John Parkinson, Founder of iinouiio, has many great sayings. But the one that stands out for me, is "it is not over until it is over."
